Click the slideshow for data on who was hiring in the Silicon Valley in July
Cisco Systems was still one of the Silicon Valley's top tech employers in July, but new job postings were down by nearly a third at the networking giant over a month before.
Cisco posted 1,077 jobs in the San Jose/Sunnyvale/Santa Clara metropolitan statistical area, the census tract that includes the heart of the Silicon Valley, according to numbers released by the Labor Market Information Division of the California Employment Development Department. That's a significant drop compared to June, when Cisco was looking to fill 1,469.
That only makes sense, coming as it does against an announced 1,300 job cut in mid July.
Other major Silicon Valley employers for July were Google, which took the top spot at 1,560 job postings, and Apple, which came in just behind Cisco with 1,070. That was actually a low number for Apple, which was No. 1 in June and has typically posted between 1,300 and 1,500 each month this year.
